Let's Continue to Work

“I’m Roscoe D. Cooper, III and I'm running for re-election to the Henrico School Board-Fairfield District because I believe our children deserve the best teachers, the best facilities, and the best opportunities to prepare them to become life ready.  I'm excited about the future of Henrico County Public Schools, and I'm proud of some of the accomplishments we've made over the past 4 years:

  • Hired the first female Superintendent in HCPS history!

  • Approved the largest budget increase for HCPS in 13 years that supports salary increases, boosts special education staffing, provides additional reading specialists, expands planning periods for elementary school teachers, and decreases school fees;

  • Invested over $110 million in capital improvements to our school facilities;

  • Approved the plans to construct a new Highland Springs High School and J.R. Tucker High School, replacing two of the county's oldest public schools by 2021;

  • Increased the number of accredited schools to 90%, the highest number of accredited schools in 6 years;

  • Increased the graduation rates and decreased the drop-out rates;

  • Out-of-School Suspensions (OSS) have been decreased by 37%;

  • Trained more than 250 employees in restorative practices; and

  • Established the first HCPS Trauma Informed Advisory Committee; Office of Equity & Diversity; and Office of Family & Community Engagement
